Dear Mr. Burnette:
We're happy to announce that your public library is venturing into the exciting world of social networking. Arizona Public Library Open Book Online (simply, APLOBO) is a new addition to your library's website. APLOBO has been in the works for years, and it's a pleasure to finally unveil it to the public.
To get you started with APLOBO, we have taken the liberty of activating your public profile page (APLOBO PPP). On this page you'll find your current contact information as it appears in our records, a snapshot of you visiting your local branch, and a list of all the library books you've checked out since we issued your first library card in 1984. We've cross-referenced this list with our patron database, and automatically added people who share your preferences to your APLOBO buddies list. Now, wasn't that easy?
Based on your past selections, we've developed a list of books we think you'll be interested in. This includes: Model Rocketry and Model Airplanes: Our Age of Miniature Flight, Living with an Excitable Colon, Loneliness: An Annotated Bibliography, Don't Marry Your Mother: Overcoming Pesky Oedipal Tendencies, Confessions of a Shopaholic. This list is also available on your APLOBO PPP.
Finally, we're using information from your APLOBO PPP to properly serve you with advertisements that you'll actually enjoy seeing: personalized, sponsored flyers tucked into the books you're likely to check out next. That's how well we know you now!
Thank you for your patience as we are setting up this service. You'll find that not all of the features are currently active. This includes account opt-out, privacy settings, and library hours lookup. We plan to have these features implemented by the end of next year.
See you online!
